Directions
Step 1
In a medium sauté pan over low-medium heat, add a splash of your desired cooking oil and cook OZO Plant-Based Burger Patty on one side until it has deeply browned.
Step 2
Flip and cook until both sides are even, about 3-5 minutes on each side. (Don’t cook too fast, as you want the outside to caramelize and the inside to cook through.)
Step 3
Once cooked, remove the patty from the pan and set aside.
Step 4
Place the chopped onion into the pan and sauté for a couple of minutes until they become soft and caramelized.
Step 5
Then do a quick cleaning of the same pan and turn the burner on low.
Step 6
Meanwhile, butter the outside of each slice of sourdough bread and place one butter side down in the sauté pan. Layer a slice of the Havarti and then a slice of the Cheddar on top.
Step 7
Once they begin to melt, add the banana peppers, caramelized onion, and then the cooked patty.
Step 8
Layer the other slices of Havarti and Cheddar on top.
Step 9
Keeping your burner on the lowest setting, cover pan and let cook, keeping watch of the cheese to see how it’s melting. (This is a “low and slow” process as your goal is just to melt the cheese and toast the outside of the bread.)
Step 10
Once the cheese is looking ooey and gooey, spread the Thousand Island dressing on the unbuttered side of the other slice of bread and place it on top of the sandwich, dressing side down.
Step 11
With a spatula, carefully flip the entire sandwich over to toast the other side of the bread. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the toasted bread is golden brown. Remove the burger from the pan and slice in half.
Step 12
Serve with pickles and enjoy!
